Florida Young Democrats and the Young Democrats of America:
HCYD is a chartered chapter member of the Florida Young Democrats (FYD) and the Young Democrats of America (YDA) is the largest youth-led, national, partisan political organization. YDA mobilizes young professionals under the age of 39 to participate in the electoral process, influences the ideals of the Democratic Party, and develops the skills of the youth generation to serve as leaders at the local and national level.
YDA has chartered chapters in 46 states and U.S. territories with over 1,500 local chapters. Our 150,000+ members – including middle school, high school and college students as well as young workers, young professionals and young families – reflects the broad diversity of our nation and the Democratic Party. Our programs engage Young Democrats through their local county, college, or high school chapters, through state and regional programming, and nationally through events like our national convention and issue advocacy work.
The Young Democrats of America has been the official youth arm of the Democratic Party since 1932. Since 2002, YDA has operated independently of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as a non-federal 527 political organization.
YDA’s campaigns and programs are aimed at building a sustainable youth movement. Through trainings, hands-on campaign experience, and leadership opportunities, YDA provides the infrastructure for young people to engage in partisan civic participation and prepares the youth generation to serve as leaders at the local, state, and national level.
Hillsborough County Democratic Party:
The Hillsborough County Democratic Party (HCDEC) delivers Democratic wins in Hillsborough County, Florida and the nation. They provide support to candidates—whether county, state or national—whose districts reach inside Hillsborough County.
HCDEC membership is composed of registered Democrats who want to actively participate in the decision-making process of the Democratic Party on a county level. The HCDEC is a diverse organization, with members representing all segments of our community.
The Democratic National Committee:
Since 1848, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has been the home of the Democratic Party, the oldest continuing party in the United States.
Today, we are millions of supporters strong, leading with our values, fighting for progress, and helping elect Democrats in every state, city, and ZIP code — from local office to the Oval Office.
Our party is strong because it’s built on advancing our Democratic platform and forging positive solutions that include everyone. As Democrats, we believe that every person in this nation should be treated with dignity and respect. We believe that health care is a right for all and that we should be rewarding the hard work of middle class families. We believe that our schools and streets should be free from gun violence and that a woman’s decisions about her own body are hers to make.
The DNC is working together to build a bright future for everyone. We are fighting for the soul of our country, for the heart of our democracy, and for America’s place as the land of opportunity for all.
Under the leadership of Chair Jaime Harrison, the DNC is composed of the chairs and vice-chairs of each state Democratic Party Committee and over 200 members elected by Democrats in all 57 states and the territories.
